Laurent Giacobbi is a research associate at IRIS and a lecturer at the Université des Antilles.

A graduate of Sciences Po Strasbourg and the Institut des Hautes Études Européennes (IHEE) in the history of international relations, he is currently working on the geopolitics of Latin America and the Caribbean. A researcher at the Laboratoire caribéen de sciences sociales (LC2S) and a defence and security teacher (REDS), he is interested in the links between climate change, humanitarian action and armed forces.

An auditor of the Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN) and reserve officer with the Forces armées aux Antilles (FAA), he is in charge of geostrategic monitoring of the Caribbean zone for the General Staff (defence and security issues, foreign influences, crisis zones, etc.).
