Considering interactions between climate change, maritime security and sustainable management of marine biodiversity in the Bay of Bengal, the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Directorate General for International Relations and Strategy (DGRIS) wish to initiate a joint research program on issues of interest to both organizations and their partners. This joint research program will be inaugurated by a research webinar on such interactions, coordinated by the Observatory of Climate Change Impacts on Defence and Security of the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS). The objective of this seminar is therefore to provide an arena for dialogue, with the support of the scientific community, around the issues of sustainable and safe management and use of maritime spaces in the Northern Indian Ocean.
